Control 2 & Max Payne 1/2 Remake Have “Increased Development Pace”

Remedy Entertainment’s Control 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 remake have “increased development pace”, based on the latest information.

In its official update regarding the sales information for Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment has shared that both titles have “increased development pace”. The company’s CEO Tero Virtala stated that the successful launch of Alan Wake 2 has supported the studio’s other game projects, namely Condor, Control 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 remake.

Virtala mentioned that Condor, Control 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 remake have all increased development pace, thanks to the personnel that was freed up from work on Alan Wake 2. The company expect these upcoming projects to reach their next development stages during the first half of 2024.

The CEO stated that Remedy Entertainment now has two established franchises i.e. Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Growing and expanding these franchises will be a key part of the studio’s future, he explained.

Regarding the sales progress of Alan Wake 2, Virtala mentioned that the survival horror title has sold 1 million units by the end of December, 2023, and 1.3 million units as of the beginning of February, 2024. He also pointed out that Alan Wake 2 is Remedy’s fastest selling game so far.

Earlier, during Remedy Entertainment’s business review for the period of January-September, 2023, it was stated that the development of Control 2 continued in the proof-of-concept stage. The plans for this sequel are ambitious, and the development team has seen good progress both in the designs and in the game build. The developer shared that it will continue at this stage for the next few quarters. It will focus on proving the identified key elements before moving to the next stage and scaling up the team.

Remedy Entertainment’s latest release, Alan Wake 2, is a 2023 survival horror game that is a sequel to the original Alan Wake. The game centers on the character Alan Wake, a best-selling horror novelist, who has been trapped in an alternate dimension for 13 years. To escape, he writes a horror story featuring an FBI agent named Saga Anderson. Alan Wake 2 was released on October 27, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
