Bloober Team’s upcoming survival horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn, will have a comparable runtime to its prior title, Silent Hill 2.
Speaking to Gamespot, Bloober Team revealed that Cronos: The New Dawn the game will have a runtime of 16 hours during a typical playthrough, and even more for those who aim for 100% completion. This makes the game’s playtime roughly in the same ballpark as the studio’s other title, Silent Hill 2.
If Cronos: The New Dawn’s story also features multiple endings like the Silent Hill 2 remake, it’s likely that the completionist runtime will also be similar. For reference, the latter has an average 100% completion playtime of 31 hours.
Bloober Team also revealed that the game is being developed by a team that is different from the one responsible for Silent Hill 2. In the case of the latter, the studio built on the foundation laid out by Konami’s work on the original. Cronos: The New Dawn, however, gives the developer a chance to prove itself with a brand new IP.
For the uninitiated, Cronos: The New Dawn is slated for release sometime during the third and fourth quarter of 2025 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Apple Mac. The game is played from a third-person perspective, putting players in the role of the Traveler, an operative working for a mysterious group known as the Collective. He is sent on missions to 1980s Poland to locate and rescue individuals who perished during an event called the Change, a disastrous phenomenon that transformed humans into monstrous beings referred to as “Orphans.” In terms of combat options, the Traveler can use both melee and firearms, including pistols and shotguns. Combat strategy plays a crucial role, as enemies must be incinerated upon being taken out. If left unattended, fallen foes can merge with the bodies of other defeated creatures, creating a more resilient and dangerous version of them.
