CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 is all set to receive ray traced reflections on both PS5 and Xbox Series X with the forthcoming update 2.0.
The menu seen footage from Cyberpunk 2077 seen in Digital Foundry’s coverage of the Phantom Liberty expansion has revealed that the game will add ray traced reflections in addition to the existing ray traced shadows in the Ray Tracing mode on both PS5 and Xbox Series X with the forthcoming update 2.0.
With update 2.0 applied, the video tab of Cyberpunk 2077’s menu screen will mention that the Ray Tracing mode will offer photo-realistic rendering of both shadows and reflections at 30 fps with dynamic 4K resolution scaling. Previously, the mode had only made mention of ray traced shadows, and screen space reflections had been been in effect since the game’s arrival on PS5 and Xbox Series X. This is set to change with the title update that will accompany the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion.
Reflections have played a major part in setting the tone and look of Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City. Console fans can, therefore, look forward to experiencing the base game as well as the expansion with more realistic visuals than before.
Originally released in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 is an action role-playing game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt. Set in Night City, an expansive open world within the Cyberpunk universe, players assume the persona of V, a highly customizable mercenary. V possesses the ability to develop skills in hacking, machinery, and combat, both melee and ranged. The central narrative revolves around V’s struggle with a mysterious cybernetic implant that threatens to overwrite their identity with the personality and memories of a deceased celebrity, a presence solely perceived by V. In order to save their own life, V and the implanted personality must collaborate to separate themselves from one another.
