Days Gone on PC Requires $10 DLC for DualSense Haptic Feedback and New Modes

In a recent announcement about Days Gone Remastered, Sony revealed that PC players who want to experience DualSense haptic feedback and several new features will need to purchase a separate $10 DLC called the Broken Roads DLC. The remastered version for PlayStation 5 includes significant upgrades like improved graphics, increased foliage draw distance, enhanced shadow and lighting quality, Tempest 3D Audio, and VRR support. However, many of these enhancements are already available in the PC version without requiring additional remastering.

The Broken Roads DLC for PC, priced at $10, offers a range of additional content and improvements that align with the new features in the PS5 version. Key features included in the DLC are:

  • Horde Assault: A survival arcade mode where players face waves of enemies.
  • Permadeath Mode: A challenging mode where players must complete the full story without dying.
  • Speedrun Mode: A mode that encourages players to finish the game’s narrative as quickly as possible.

Beyond these modes, the DLC enables DualSense haptic feedback support on PC, allowing players to experience immersive vibrations and adaptive trigger responses while exploring the game’s rugged landscapes or engaging in combat.

The DLC also introduces new accessibility features, such as high contrast mode, UI narration, collectible audio cues, and an updated Field of View slider. Additionally, an enhanced Photo Mode is included, offering advanced options like time-of-day adjustments, a three-point lighting system, and new logo selections, which should appeal to fans of in-game photography.

Sony has confirmed that these new features and improvements will be available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store as part of a simultaneous release on April 25, 2025.

The decision to lock DualSense haptic feedback support and additional game modes behind a $10 DLC on PC is likely to generate mixed reactions. While the added content and improvements may enhance the gameplay experience for many, some PC players may feel that features like DualSense support should be included as a standard part of the game, especially since the PC version already boasts many of the graphical and technical upgrades found in the PS5 remaster.
