As far as differences in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach’s Graphics modes are concerned, the Reddit user said that image quality appears to remain “pretty good” in Performance mode. He believes that the game is using Sony’s AI-based PSSR for upscaling. That said, they haven’t quite figured out if there are any differences in terms of lighting quality across Quality and Performance modes.
The Reddit user also confirmed that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach currently does not feature a Balanced mode of any sort. However, they did mention that switching to Performance mode on a 120 Hz display runs the game “above 60fps.” This scenario is likely intended for VRR supported displays, as the frame rate is probably highly variable.
