Death Stranding 2 On the Beach Receives Rating in South Korea with Detailed Mature Content

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has received a rating in South Korea, classifying it as Not Available to Minors. Authorities based this decision on several content concerns, including excessive violence, strong vulgar language, and depictions of drug use.

According to the rating details, the game features scenes of excessive violence. During combat sequences, red blood and bodily harm are prominently depicted as weapons are used. This explicit violence was a significant factor in the strict rating. Additionally, the game contains frequent use of explicit and vulgar language, including instances of excessive swearing with noted explicit profanity. Lastly, the game includes scenes of direct drug use, such as smoking and drinking, which further contributed to its mature classification.

The game’s rating was determined under Article 21 of the Act on Promotion of the Game Industry and Article 7, Paragraph 4 of the Rating Classification Regulations in South Korea. As a result, it has been classified as not suitable for minors. The game is being published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. 505 Games published the first Death Stranding for PC and Xbox.

Recently, Hideo Kojima, the legendary creator behind the game, shared a sneak peek on his social media, showing him working on a new trailer. While there’s still no official release date, the rating approval and this teaser have fans hopeful that an announcement might be coming soon.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will be a PS5 exclusive at launch. The first Death Stranding also started as a PS5 exclusive before being ported to PC and later to Xbox consoles. Now that Kojima Productions owns the Death Stranding IP, there’s a chance the sequel could eventually make its way to Xbox as well, alongside a PC release. For now, though, PS5 players will get to experience the next chapter of Kojima’s unique vision first.
