Hideo Kojima’s critically acclaimed Death Stranding Director’s Cut is now officially available on Xbox Series X|S, marking the first time this title has been released on Microsoft consoles. Initially launched as a PlayStation exclusive and later ported to PC.

In Death Stranding, players assume the role of Sam Bridges, a courier tasked with reconnecting the isolated survivors of a post-apocalyptic America. The game’s world is deeply influenced by the mysterious “Death Stranding” event, which has created a fragile barrier between the living and the dead, resulting in haunting encounters with spectral beings. As players navigate treacherous landscapes, Bridges must establish a network to unite people and deliver essential supplies, ultimately working to restore hope to a fractured society.

The Director’s Cut edition for Xbox Series X|S includes several enhancements. Players can enjoy high frame rates and support for ultra-wide monitors (likely available only for Windows/PC). Additionally, Death Stranding Director’s Cut features a robust photo mode that allows players to capture stunning landscapes within the game. It is also confirmed to support the Xbox Play Anywhere feature, meaning you can purchase the game on any platform and access two copies on your chosen platform, whether it’s Windows PC or Xbox console. It was previously only available on Windows Store.

The Xbox Store listing indicates that this version of the game features 4K Ultra HD visuals, Xbox achievements, and cloud saves. It is optimized for the Xbox Series X|S. Currently, it is on sale with a discount of up to 50%, reducing the price from the standard launch price of £34.99 to £17.50.

Additionally, Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be followed by a sequel titled Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which has been announced exclusively for the PS5. Death Stranding Director’s Cut was published by 505 Games for both PC and Xbox consoles.
