Possible upcoming DLC for Capcom’s action role-playing game, Dragon’s Dogma 2, may have been discovered via a new datamine.
A dataminer has found in-game files in the recently emerged Denuvo-free build of the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 that indicate the game may receive DLC in some shape or form in the future. As seen in the screenshot below, there is mention of a Boss Rush Mode and a new multiplayer mode called Tower of the New Moon.
A multiplayer mode sounds like a pretty major addition to Dragon’s Dogma 2, one that fans have undoubtedly asked for. It remains to be seen whether it is specific to some new mode or whether players will be able to play the main quest together in co-op. It’s also tough to say whether the DLC, if it exists, will be offered for free or as paid content.
Recently, Dragon’s Dogma 2 Steam back-end had revealed that a number of encrypted DLC updates had been made to its database files. Several DLC files listed as SteamDB Unknown Apps had apparently been added to the database. This suggested that the content had been in development for quite some time. Capcom has yet to make a statement on these findings, and it’s unlikely that it will.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the sequel to 2012’s Dragon’s Dogma. It takes place in a fantasy-themed world parallel to that of the original. Players control a customizable character in an open-world setting, pursuing a dragon that has designated them as the Arisen. Along the way, they navigate a geopolitical conflict, complete quests, acquire new equipment, and receive assistance from allies called Pawns. These characters are AI-controlled but function similar to player-controlled avatars, assisting in combat, offering information about enemies, and providing guidance for active quests.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on March 22, 2024.
