Dragon’s Dogma 2 Title Update 4.0 Adds Hard Mode and New Pawn Specialization

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Title Update 4.0 launches October 9 alongside the Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion. The update adds Hard Mode, a feature allowing players to restart with their current saved data carried over, and the new Orienteer Pawn specialization.

The update also increases Rift Crystal rewards from forgotten riftstones, adds thermal properties to some armor, and introduces a range of fixes for Pawns, quests, UI, and other issues. PS5 Pro players get official Enhanced PSSR support, while the Steam version adds FSR 3 Frame Generation and updated DLSS features.

Added Features and Adjustments

  • Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen: Added features supporting the expansion DLC.
  • Hard Mode: Added a new Hard Mode.
  • New Game: Added a feature allowing players to carry over their current saved data and start the game again from the beginning.
  • Pawn specialization: Added the Orienteer specialization.
  • Rift Crystals: Increased the number of Rift Crystals received when interacting with a forgotten riftstone from 30 to 90.
  • Players who already interacted with forgotten riftstones will receive the difference in Rift Crystals when starting the game after the update.
  • Armor: Added thermal properties to some armor.

Bug Fixes

Pawns

  • Fixed an issue where a Pawn’s priority for using skills that grant elemental enchantments would sometimes decrease.
  • Fixed an issue where Pawns would sometimes fight barehanded despite having a weapon equipped.
  • Fixed an issue where Pawns would sometimes fail to climb or descend ladders.
  • Fixed an issue where the main Pawn would sometimes say a support Pawn’s line when using the High Five command.
  • Fixed an issue where gifted items would sometimes remain in the inventory after dismissing a support Pawn.

UI

  • Fixed an issue where changing the button mapping for Weapon Skills 5 and 6 could cause item names to disappear from the control guide in the main menu.
  • Fixed an issue where buttons assigned to vocation actions could also be assigned to weapon skills assigned to two buttons.
  • Fixed an issue where buttons assigned to switch weapon skills could also be assigned to weapon skills assigned to two buttons.

Quests

  • Fixed an issue in The Phantom Oxcart where Pawns could sometimes push the player out of the oxcart while waiting at the front.
  • Fixed an issue in Ware the Corrupted Beasts where progressing the quest between 3:00 a.m. and dawn could make the quest impossible to complete.

Other

  • Fixed an issue where some parts of Sovran’s Greaves were replaced with incorrect parts.
  • Fixed an issue where detection of the latest saved data changed after using an Unmaking Arrow.

PlayStation 5 Pro

  • Added official support for Enhanced PSSR, or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.

Steam

Graphics Options

  • Added FSR 3 Frame Generation to the Graphics section of the Options menu.
  • Updated DLSS Super Resolution to version 4.5.
  • Updated DLSS Frame Generation to support multi-frame generation.
  • Made DLSS Frame Generation usable even when DLSS Super Resolution is disabled.

Other Adjustments

  • Added support for DualSense Wireless Controller adaptive triggers, controller vibration, and motion sensor functionality.
