A new Xbox Elite controller may be in development with Hall effect and TMR thumbsticks, advanced haptics and an integrated audio scroll wheel, according to information found in the Xbox Design Lab backend.
The controller is reportedly codenamed Edessa and is linked to an accessory and customisation product called Beatrice. The backend reportedly contains configuration records and 16 3D component models associated with the hardware.
One of the biggest changes appears to be the choice of thumbstick technology. The leaked configuration includes separate Hall effect options with standard, loose and tight resistance, alongside TMR sticks. A low-friction and silent stick option is also listed, with separate standard and long stick components.
The controller could also feature upgraded haptics. One configuration specifically references “Impulse Triggers (ERMs) & Advanced Haptics (VCAs) Motors”, suggesting the use of voice-coil actuators alongside the trigger vibration found in existing Xbox controllers.
Another listed feature is an integrated audio scroll wheel, with Xbox Design Lab reportedly containing a dedicated “Audio Scroll Wheel Color” setting.
The leaked files also point to expanded customisation options for the controller’s physical components. These include metal and named faceplate designs, engraving, several D-pad configurations and multiple paddle designs. Standard, classic and doublewide paddle models are reportedly present, with options for short and long paddles as well as different layouts.
Four SKU combinations were also reportedly found in the backend: EP2-69782 and EP2-69783 for Elite Complete configurations, alongside EP2-69784 and EP2-69785 for Base versions. Each package appears to have versions with and without motors.
The Base configuration reportedly includes a cable, short bottom paddles and no top paddles. The Elite Complete version adds a carrying case and charging dock, along with long bottom paddles and short top paddles.
