Issue # 397 of Edge Magazine has been released, and it features reviews for games including Dragon’s Dogma 2, Rise of the Ronin, and more.
Generally known for its critical stance on games and its wider use of the 10-point scoring scale, Edge Magazine has developed a reputation for being a harsh critic over the years. Despite this, the publication has given Capcom’s action role-playing game Dragon’s Dogma 2 a score of 9 out of 10. Meanwhile, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Team Ninja’s action role-playing game didn’t as well as Dragon’s Dogma 2, as it received a score of 6 out of 10. As far as Edge Magazine goes, this is still considered an above average score.
For the sake of comparison, the original Dragon’s Dogma had received a score of 7 out of 10 from Edge Magazine. The sequel scoring a 9 is indicative of it being a major improvement over the original. Additionally, with a score of 8 out of 10, Team Ninja’s previous effort Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty fared notably better than Rise of the Ronin.
Previously, it was reported via Famitsu that Rise of the Ronin has outperformed Dragon’s Dogma 2 in Japan in terms of physical sales, despite being available for less time during its debut week.. The publication had shared sales figures for game software during the period of March 25, 2024 and March 31, 2024. Rise of the Ronin managed to sell an additional 20,139 copies during the second week of its release, while sales of Dragon’s Dogma 2 dropped considerably to 9,172 copies.
