Elden Ring Leak Uncovers Unseen Characters & Cut Dialogue 4 Years After Release

A new leak for Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware’s 2022 action role-playing game, Elden Ring, has uncovered unseen characters and cut dialogue 4 years after release.

Dataminer ividyon took to Twitter/X to report that the recently released Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring contains a substantial amount of previously inaccessible internal files intended for developer use. Among the findings are entries from the game’s “TalkParam” table, which contain subtitles and developer notes for spoken dialogue.

Elden ring cut dialogue

While some entries are for previously known cut dialogue, including unused lines associated with Yura and Kale, the Elden Ring game files also reveal conversations involving characters who have never been encountered in the released game. Among the discoveries is an unfinished sorcerer NPC who would have sent players on a quest to collect certain items. Another character, a seemingly unscrupulous cleric named “Gote,” may have shared thematic similarities with Rhico. The files also mention Ivan, described as a former knight of Leyndell, who hunts “blood demons.” His story may have had a connection with Mohg. Another character referenced in the dialogue is a blacksmith who players would have helped relocate across different areas.

The newly uncovered dialogue also sheds light on existing characters. White Mask Varre appears to have had unused lines offering maidenless players access to Roundtable Hold, possibly as an alternate introduction to the hub. Meanwhile, Witch-Hunter Jerren had additional dialogue in which he receives an item from the player and recounts a story about Radahn and the Redmanes’ defeat.

Based on the datamine alone, it’s tough to say how far these characters and conversations progressed during development, but it’s interesting to see that they’re still present in the Elden Ring game files, even in the recent re-release.

Elden Ring was released on February 25, 2022, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version followed on August 28, 2026.
