Epic Games Store December 25 Mystery Game Revealed as Disco Elysium

by Salal Awan

Epic Games Store has officially revealed Mystery Game number 9 of its December promotion, confirming Disco Elysium: The Final Cut as the free title for December 25. The game will go live at 9 AM PST and will be available to claim for a full 24 hours, after which it will rotate out as part of the ongoing holiday giveaway event.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is described as a role-playing game that places players in the role of a detective with a highly unconventional skill system. Players are tasked with interrogating characters, solving murders, and navigating morally flexible choices that allow them to act as either a heroic figure or, at times, an outright disaster.

One of the defining features highlighted is the game’s complete English voiceover, which brings the city’s residents to life with distinct accents and emotional delivery. The Final Cut also introduces new political vision quests, allowing players to explore the consequences of their worldview while unlocking additional citizens, locations, and major sights. These quests are designed to expand the player’s influence on the world as they pursue personal ideals, sometimes with unexpected results.

The game emphasizes freedom of choice across nearly every interaction. Players can intimidate, negotiate, resort to violence, write poetry, sing karaoke, dance, or simply attempt to understand the meaning of life. This flexibility is supported by a deep role-playing system featuring 24 skills, 80 clothing items, 14 usable tools, six psychoactive substances, and 60 distinct thoughts managed through the detective’s Thought Cabinet. It is a lot to juggle, though that seems very much the point.

Disco Elysium follows The Callisto Protocol in the Mystery Game lineup. It comes after Bloodstained, Paradise Killer on December 22, and Sorry We’re Closed on December 21. Earlier entries included Hogwarts Legacy, Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel, Eternights, and Blood West.
