Epic Games Store has officially revealed Eternights as its mystery free game for December 19, continuing its Holiday Sale giveaway campaign. The title is available to claim for free for the next 24 hours, after which it will be replaced by another mystery game. This marks the third confirmed free release out of the 17 total games Epic Games is offering during the promotion.
The giveaway is part of Epic Games Store’s annual holiday initiative, which combines daily mystery game reveals with limited-time free downloads. Eternights follows the earlier releases in the lineup and reinforces Epic’s approach of mixing high-profile titles with more experimental and genre-blending experiences throughout the campaign.
Eternights is a dating action role-playing game developed by Studio Sai. The game blends real-time combat with social simulation mechanics, asking players to balance intense dungeon exploration with relationship building. Set during an apocalyptic event caused by a mysterious infection, the game places players in a world where humanity has largely been transformed into violent monsters. Survival depends not only on combat ability but also on how players manage their limited time.
A central mechanic in Eternights is its strict in-game calendar system. Players must decide how to spend each day, choosing between training their combat skills, scavenging dangerous areas for supplies, progressing through story dungeons known as The Wall, or strengthening relationships with potential romantic partners. These choices directly affect both narrative outcomes and combat effectiveness, creating constant pressure to prioritize one path over another.
The game originally launched on September 12, 2023, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It later expanded to additional platforms, arriving on Nintendo Switch on October 17, 2024. A mobile version was released on November 20, 2024, for iOS and Android via the Crunchyroll Game Vault service.
With Eternights now confirmed as the December 19 free game, Epic Games Store has revealed three of the 17 titles planned for the holiday giveaway. Another mystery game is scheduled to unlock tomorrow, continuing the daily rotation. The promotion remains exclusive to the Epic Games Store and is available to users on PC, with each title free to claim for a limited 24-hour window.
