Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Continues To Chart In Best Sellers, Helldivers 2 Stays Above COD: MW3 In YTD Sales Revenue

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues to chart among NPD best sellers, while Sony and Arrowhead Studios’ Helldivers 2 remains above Microsoft and Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in terms of Year-to-Date sales revenue.

Matt Piscatella, Executive Director and Video Game Industry Analyst at Circana (NPD), took to Twitter/X to share the list of top 20 games in terms of Year-to-Date sales revenue thus far in the year 2024, with the likes of Helldivers 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth ranked high. Piscatella mentioned that Helldivers 2 remains the best-selling premium game of 2024 Year-to-Date after placing second in March, 2024. The game currently ranks 7th in terms of lifetime US dollar sales for Sony published titles after just two months from release.

Regarding Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, he revealed that the game currently ranks 14th across all Final Fantasy releases in lifetime dollar sales in the US market, with Final Fantasy XV taking 1st place, followed by Final Fantasy VII Remake taking 2nd place, and the original Final Fantasy VII taking 3rd place.

As for hardware sales, the NPD analyst mentioned that PlayStation 5 led the hardware market both in terms of unit and dollar sales during March as well as the first quarter of 2024. Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch took 2nd place in unit sales across both time periods while Xbox Series consoles ranked 2nd in dollar sales.

Meanwhile, according to a recent sales update from Famitsu, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has sold a total of 4,840 physical copies in its 5th week since release in Japan. This brought the game’s total sales to 310,596 copies, making it the third best selling PS5 game in the country to date, with only Final Fantasy XVI, with sales of around 429,000 copies, and Gran Turismo 7, with sales of around 348,000 copies, being ahead of it.
