Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released on January 22, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC through Xbox Play Anywhere. The expanded edition of the 2020 title Final Fantasy VII Remake was previously available only on PlayStation 5 and PC.

This new release introduces a “Streamlined Progression” feature aimed at making the game more accessible. The mode includes options such as unlimited health and magic points, instant access to limit breaks, maximum damage output, and simplified weapon ability acquisition. According to Square Enix, these additions are designed to allow players to focus more on the narrative and hybrid combat system.

Preorders for the upcoming versions are available now. Players who purchase the digital edition before January 31, 2026, will receive a copy of the original Final Fantasy VII. Xbox users will gain immediate access to the 1997 title upon preorder, while Nintendo Switch 2 players will receive it at launch. Physical preorders for Switch 2 will also include a limited Magic: The Gathering booster pack themed around Final Fantasy, available while supplies last.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade retells the opening section of the original game, set in the industrial city of Midgar. The story follows Cloud Strife, a former soldier turned mercenary, who joins the eco-resistance group Avalanche in their fight against the Shinra Electric Power Company. The Intergrade version also incorporates Episode Intermission, a side story featuring Yuffie Kisaragi, a ninja from Wutai who infiltrates Midgar during the events of the main narrative.

As part of the official press release, Square Enix has also announced that the entire Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy will eventually be released on all major platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. This news comes as the company continues to focus on a multi-platform strategy to make its games available to more players worldwide. The third and final installment of the trilogy is currently in development.
