Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Director Shares 2026 Message

by Ali Haider

Square Enix has released a New Year 2026 message from Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, offering an update on the project’s direction and reflecting on recent milestones for the franchise. The message was shared as part of broader developer aspirations for titles scheduled to release in 2026 and focuses on both the current state of the remake trilogy and its growing global reach.

In his statement, Hamaguchi emphasized the importance of expanding the availability of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade to new platforms. He described this move as a meaningful step forward for the series and for the fan community that continues to follow the remake project closely. According to Hamaguchi, “I feel that being able to newly deliver FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE to the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S is a significant step forward.” He added that this expansion “creates a new expansion for the FFVII fan community as we continue our challenge toward the final installment of the trilogy.”

The director also reiterated his personal commitment to the remake project and its legacy. Reflecting on the long-term journey of the series, Hamaguchi stated, “I am truly looking forward to continuing this journey alongside players worldwide with this remake series, which we have crafted with the utmost respect for the original work.” The message positions the remake not only as a modern reimagining but as a project guided by close attention to the original game’s impact and meaning.

Final Fantasy VII Remake first launched in April 2020 and later evolved into the Intergrade edition, which introduced additional content and enhancements. As of early 2026, the Intergrade version is scheduled to expand further with confirmed releases on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X and S on January 22, 2026. This upcoming release includes a Streamlined Progression feature designed to make the experience more accessible across platforms, a small but notable adjustment as the trilogy approaches its conclusion.

Attention is now increasingly focused on the currently untitled Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. Described as the final chapter of the remake saga, the project is said to have its main scenario completed, with development now entering a final phase. While Square Enix has not revealed an official title or release date, the New Year message frames the project as nearing its final stages, signaling that the long-running remake journey is moving steadily toward its conclusion.
