Industry insider Nate the Hate suggests that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 may not feature timed PlayStation exclusivity and could instead release as a day-one multiplatform title.
Square Enix is widely expected to showcase Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for Nintendo Switch 2 with a confirmed release date. Reports point to a potential summer launch window, with June being cited as a likely target. Such timing would place Rebirth in a strong position ahead of Summer Games Fest, where Square Enix could then unveil the first major look at Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3.
By that stage, both Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth would be available across multiple platforms. This would allow Square Enix to present the trilogy’s concluding chapter as a fully simultaneous release across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch 2, and PC. The implication is that Part 3 would abandon the timed exclusivity model previously associated with the series, reflecting a strategic shift toward maximizing reach and overall sales potential.
The final entry in the remake trilogy is currently in active development at Square Enix. The project is said to target a satisfying conclusion that respects the original game’s legacy while also delivering new narrative directions. Development is reportedly progressing smoothly, with the game already in a playable state. The team is using a heavily customized version of Unreal Engine 4, enabling a more efficient transition of assets and systems from Rebirth into the new installment.
While Square Enix has not announced an official release window, industry expectations currently point toward a 2027 launch. If the multiplatform strategy holds, Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 could arrive simultaneously on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
At present, these details remain unconfirmed by Square Enix. Still, the possibility of a day-and-date multiplatform release represents a notable potential change for one of the company’s most high-profile projects.
