Square Enix may have begun conducting voice recording sessions for Part 3 of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.

Gackt, the voice actor who played the character of Genesis in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, has shared (via Twitter/X user J19_Gaming89) on social media that he is currently recording his voice for a project, possibly Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, and that it has been a while since he returned to the studio seen in the picture below.

The Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII voice actor recalled that it’s been more than 10 years since he was last recording in this studio. He didn’t reveal that name of the project, but it likely involves Genesis in either Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis or Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3.

Despite being long-rumored, the character has yet to make an appearance in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. Though, given how Cissnei from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII found heir way into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, it’s possibly that Genesis will too. Zack also plays an important role in Part 2 of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, even though he was killed by Shinra soldiers in  Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

In related news, Square Enix recently teased that it will share new information on part 3 in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy during the upcoming Ever Crisis anniversary live stream, which is set to happen on Friday, September 5, 2025. The stream will feature Kasumi Ashizawa (Game Talent/Voice Actor), Shoichi Ichikawa (Producer, Square Enix), Tetsuya Nomura (Creative Director, Square Enix) in voice only as a “voice from heaven”, and Hasebe (Planner, Square Enix). It’s possible that Part 3 may receive a formal announcement accompanied by a teaser. Only time will tell whether that’s the case, however.
