Final Fantasy VII Remake Update 1.002 Adds Head Start Mode and Scene Fast-Forward Option

by Ali Haider

The 1.002 update for Final Fantasy VII Remake introduces two major features to enhance gameplay flexibility. The new “Head Start” mode, available through the “New Game” option, lets players begin their journey with leveled-up characters, advanced equipment, and a well-stocked inventory. In this mode, characters start at level 45 with significant skill points, fully leveled materia, advanced gear and accessories, useful items, and a generous 50,000 gil. This mode is available for both the main story and the FF7R EPISODE INTERmission.

Additionally, a fast-forward option has been added for event scenes, allowing players to watch cinematic moments at 1.5x or 2.0x speed without skipping them entirely.

The update is now available for download on both PS5 and PC, with the PC version reported to be over 10 GB.
