The PC release of Square Enix’s action role-playing game, Final Fantasy XVI, is imminent, as the game’s Nvidia Game Ready profile has been discovered.
Nvidia has released Game Ready and Studio Driver 560.81 for its GPUs, and among the notes is mention of a game ready profile for Final Fantasy XVI. While it wasn’t listed in the official driver release notes, Reddit user m_w_h discovered a game ready driver profile for Final Fantasy XVI among the added profiles.
The presence of a game ready driver profile for Final Fantasy XVI in the new driver update suggests that the PC version is close to its release. It’s likely that Square Enix will make an announcement in this regard in the days to come, or it may even choose to shadow drop the game on Steam.
The Final Fantasy XVI development team has taken its time with the PC version, as we’re well past the PS5 version’s exclusivity period at this point. During a recent interview, the game’s Producer, Naoki Yoshida, had shared details regarding the new features that are being added to the upcoming PC version, including support for a frame rate of over 100 fps, ultra wide displays, and mouse and keyboard controls. He mentioned at the time that the development team had been optimizing the game for PC. In doing so, it updated code that will allow the game to run better. Through developing the PC version, the team had found ways to improve performance. He also intended to bring these improvements to the PS5 version.
Yoshida also revealed that Square Enix would soon release a playable demo for the PC version. Because there are so many variables with hardware configurations in the PC space, the demo will give players the opportunity to test out the game and see how it performs on their systems. He mentioned that the PC version will include a lot of sliders to adjust lots of different graphical settings, suggesting that the game is scalable to a considerable degree.
