Here’s A Possible First Look At Demon’s Souls Remake On The Rumored PlayStation Handheld

by Muhammad Ali Bari

Screenshots showing Sony Interactive Entertainment and Bluepoint Games’ Demon’s Souls remake running in the PS5’s new Power Saving mode may have given us a first look at how the game will run on the rumored PlayStation handheld.

The aforementioned images appeared on file hosting website Imgbb (via Reset Era member andshrew), showing a ‘Power Saver’ mode in the game’s Display menu, indicating that the latter has already been patched with support for the PS5’s new Power Saving mode. Demon’s Souls runs at a lower resolution while targeting a frame rate of 30 fps in this low-power mode, which is rumored to facilitate Sony Interactive Entertainment’s unannounced PlayStation handheld.

PS5 OS Power Saving Menu & Icon Revealed

The Power Saving sub-menu in the PS5 OS settings showing Demon’s Souls as a supported title as well as the home screen icon that tells a game supports the new mode can be seen below.

The ‘Power Saver for Games’ menu shows that users can select which PS5 games to play using power saver. It also warns that gameplay performance will scale back as needed to reduce power consumption.

Sony Interactive Entertainment added the Power Saving mode to the PS5 via a system software update ( version 25.06-12.00.00) on September 17, 2025. Users can toggle the feature under Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saver. When activated, an icon will appear next to the game in the Switcher menu within the control center, making it easy to track which titles are currently running in power saver mode.

According to documents and claims shared by hardware insider Moore’s Law Is Dead (MLID), the PlayStation handheld could arrive in Fall 2027 alongside the mainline PlayStation 6 console. More details here.
