A world map comparison between Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Horizon 6 suggests that the latter is around 25% larger in scale.

Playground Games recently revealed the world map for Forza Horizon 6, prompting content creator HokiHoshi to compare it with that of its predecessor, Forza Horizon 5. In his detailed breakdown video, he compared the two maps by aligning a 1-kilometer stretch of drag strip in both games and matching their scale to create a like-for-like comparison. From there, he manually outlined the playable areas, removing inaccessible terrain such as oceans and mountains, before calculating the effective size of each map.

According to the content creator’s analysis, the Japan-based setting of Forza Horizon 6 is “roughly […] 25% larger” than the Mexico-based map in Horizon 5. While the increase doesn’t seem significant on paper, he highlighted that the real improvement is in its density. Rather than simply expanding the map’s footprint, Forza Horizon 6 significantly enhances how that space is utilized. One of the biggest criticisms of Forza Horizon 5 was its large stretches of relatively flat terrain, particularly around its central regions. Although it prominently featured a volcano, much of the surrounding environment consisted of open desert and farmland, which could make the world feel less varied and, at times, smaller than it actually was.

On the other hand, the map in Forza Horizon 6 is packed with elevation changes, winding roads, and layered geography. As such, players will frequently be moving through hills, valleys, forests, and mountain passes that naturally obscure sightlines. The content creator noted that this design makes the world feel significantly bigger in practice. Hidden locations, varied terrain, and carefully controlled visibility all contribute to a stronger sense of scale. Occasional sweeping vistas are still present, however.
