GreedFall The Dying World has received official ratings from the ESRB for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series platforms, marking a notable step toward its eventual console release. The listing confirms that the title is rated T for Teen and includes content descriptors for Blood, Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol, and Violence. No interactive elements are noted in the rating information.
The ESRB classification applies to Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series versions of the game. While the rating itself does not confirm a specific launch date, it represents a standard milestone typically completed closer to release readiness. As a result, the appearance of console ratings indicates that preparations for the full release are continuing behind the scenes.
Previously known as GreedFall 2, the project was formally rebranded as GreedFall The Dying World in late 2025. The change was intended to better reflect the game’s narrative structure as a standalone prequel rather than a direct sequel. Developed by Spiders, the game shifts perspective from the original title by placing players in the role of a native of Teer Fradee who is taken to the old continent of Gacane, a region struggling with plague and political collapse.
The game initially launched in Steam Early Access on September 24, 2024, where it has remained exclusive to PC since. Over the past year, the development team has used this period to iterate on systems, narrative flow, and world-building through regular updates. One of the most significant updates, Update 0.3 released in November, introduced the city of Peren and the companion character Till, expanding both the playable area and story depth.
Spiders has confirmed that the full 1.0 release of GreedFall The Dying World is planned for late 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The studio has also indicated that a major State of the World announcement is scheduled for later this month, where additional details about console launch timing and development priorities are expected to be shared.
