The Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look presentation was captured entirely on PlayStation 5 hardware, according to Netflix’s public relations team. The confirmation means the footage being shown to Netflix subscribers was recorded from the base PS5 rather than a more powerful PS5 Pro.
Netflix and Rockstar Games are partnering to give subscribers an early look at Grand Theft Auto VI on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET. The extended presentation will be available globally to Netflix subscribers and will feature footage captured directly from the game.
The presentation marks an unusual collaboration between Rockstar and Netflix, with the streaming service securing the exclusive debut of the extended look. Netflix says subscribers will be able to watch it with subtitles available in English, German, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Polish, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian.
Grand Theft Auto VI is Rockstar’s first mainline Grand Theft Auto game since Grand Theft Auto V launched 13 years ago. The upcoming game follows Jason and Lucia as they become caught up in a criminal conspiracy spanning the fictional state of Leonida after a robbery goes wrong.
The extended look arrives ahead of the game’s launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to release on November 19.
Netflix Vice President of Nonfiction Series Brandon Riegg described the partnership as an opportunity to bring one of the industry’s biggest gaming reveals to its audience. The company also highlighted the unprecedented anticipation surrounding Rockstar’s next open-world crime game.
