Rockstar Games has released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on YouTube, giving players the first official extended look at gameplay from the highly anticipated open world game. The 26 minute presentation is captured entirely from in-game footage running on PlayStation 5.
The extended gameplay presentation was previously broadcast on Netflix and is now available for everyone to watch on YouTube. Rockstar has also made a 14.2 GB direct download of the presentation available through the official Grand Theft Auto website.
The presentation focuses on protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos as they navigate their lives in Vice City and the wider state of Leonida. The footage highlights the game’s expanded open world, with Rockstar showcasing a range of gameplay systems and environmental details.
The footage includes seamless character switching, updated melee and gunplay mechanics, and a large number of unique NPC animations. Rockstar says the game features more than 600,000 unique NPC animations, contributing to a more reactive world where civilians can respond to threats, listen to conversations and participate in ambient activities.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set in a modern day fictionalised version of Florida and follows Jason and Lucia as they become caught up in a criminal story across Leonida. The game builds on Rockstar’s established open world formula while placing greater emphasis on environmental realism and the relationship between its two protagonists.
The official footage also provides the clearest look yet at how the game runs on current generation hardware. Rockstar has confirmed that the Extended Look was captured entirely on PlayStation 5.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
