Despite selling nearly 10 million copies, Halo 5: Guardians’ post-release content roadmap was apparently abandoned after poor reception from fans. Recently, Halo insider  Mr_Rebs_ had the opportunity to speak to an anonymous Halo 5: Guardians developer, who confirmed to him that 343 Industries had created a roadmap to continue the game’s story. However, the studio ultimately decided to drop those plans due to negative reactions from series fans.

According to the anonymous Halo 5: Guardians developer, the 343 Industries had planned to have a much bigger role for the Guardians after the events of the main campaign. However, they said that the reactions towards the group of characters were so negative that the narrative team tried to wrap it up the story as quickly as it could. The Halo insider mentioned that the reason he shared details from his conversation with the anonymous Halo 5 developer was because fans often tend to ask why the studio keeps coming up with new concepts for each of its games. As such, he wanted to finally give Halo fans confirmation that it’s a result of negative reactions from the fans themselves.

Earlier, Tyler Owens, former developer at Halo Studios, was asked about the lack of a PC port of Halo 5: Guardians, to which he responded by saying that he wished it could have happened, but it never will at this point. He said that the port that was being considered had run into significant technical hurdles, and was, therefore, scrapped.
