HELLDIVERS 2 PS5 vs PC Comparison: Which Platform Is Best

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Arrowhead Game Studios’ latest third-person shooter, HELLDIVERS 2, is now available on PS5 and PC, and if you’re looking to find out how the platforms compare, read ahead.

HELLDIVERS 2 offers 2 graphics modes on PS5 i.e. Quality and Performance. In terms of settings, both modes deliver a similar experience, and the difference largely come down to shadow quality and ambient occlusion. Meanwhile, the PC version offers the best possible graphical experience with the availability of higher quality settings.

In terms of image quality, the PS5 version of HELLDIVERS 2 runs at a dynamic resolution in Quality mode, targeting 4K (2160p) but commonly running at 1800p. In Performance mode, the game also runs at a dynamic resolution that commonly runs at 1080p. On a capable system, the PC version can run at a native resolution of 4K and deliver substantially greater image quality.

With regards to performance, the PS5 version of HELLDIVERS 2 targets a frame rate of 30 fps in Quality mode. In Performance mode, both console targets a frame rate of 60 fps. The game is able to maintain its target frame rate across both modes for the most part. There are dips in performance when there is a lot of on-screen activity, however. Meanwhile, the PC version is able to target higher frame rates and deliver a more responsive gameplay experience.

All in all, as one would expect, the PC version of HELLDIVERS 2 is able of delivering a superior experience over the PS5 version on capable hardware. Though, that’s not to say that the PS5 version doesn’t perform well in its own right.

HELLDIVERS 2 serves as the sequel to the 2015 game Helldivers, which was a co-op top-down shooter. The game was released for PlayStation 5 and Windows on February 8, 2024. Unlike its predecessor, Helldivers 2 is a co-op third-person shooter. Players can select Strategems, which are air drops containing cluster bombs, sentry guns, shield generators, or supply pods with limited-use special weaponry, much like in the first game. The game supports multiplayer with up to four players.
