Hideo Kojima has revealed new details about PHYSINT, his upcoming espionage game, including information about its cast, story and production plans, as shared in a new podcast (via Genki JPN).

Kojima said PHYSINT will evoke the roots of the Metal Gear series while offering a new interactive experience and a different kind of spy action. He also wants to introduce plenty of new ideas, and said the game’s plot has already been completed.

Several cast members have already been scanned for the project, including Bill Skarsgard, Charlie Fraser and Minami Hamabe. Kojima said filming is scheduled to begin next year, while other cast members have already been selected but remain secret.

Around 70% of the cast so far are Kojima fans, with the director teasing that some of the actors are major names. Many character names have also been decided, although some are still being worked out.

Kojima personally pitched PHYSINT to the actors involved. He also said that he approaches each of his games as if it could be his last, with PHYSINT serving as a project marking his 40th anniversary in the games industry.

PHYSINT was announced as a new action-adventure stealth project from Kojima Productions. The game is intended to draw on Kojima’s espionage work while combining cinematic elements with interactive gameplay. A release date has yet to be announced.
