The recent Twitter/X activity from William Pellen, co-creator of Hollow Knight and Silksong, has fans convinced that their long wait to learn more about Hollow Knight: Silksong will soon be over. On January 15, 2025, Pellen changed his Twitter/X handle to @everydruidwaswr, updated his name to “little bomey,” and set his profile picture to an image of a certain chocolate cake. Later that day, he posted a cryptic tweet saying, “something big is coming. keep your eyes closed tomorrow.” The following day, Nintendo officially announced the Switch 2, leading many to believe he was hinting at this reveal. However, upon closer inspection, there are reasons to suspect that this could be part of a larger ARG or a promotional campaign tied to Hollow Knight: Silksong.
The image of a cake (seen above) used as Pellen’s profile picture appears to link to a recipe created on April 2, 2024, a date that coincides with a scheduled Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025. This has led to speculation that the Nintendo Direct could host a major announcement involving Hollow Knight: Silksong in the near future. Third-party developers, such as Team Cherry, are likely preparing to showcase their games for the new console at the upcoming presentation. Team Cherry has a history of using cryptic marketing tactics, and fans believe that Pellen’s recent Twitter/X activity bears similarities to past campaigns.
