Horizon Forbidden West is now available to pre-load on the PS4 and PS5. Here’s what you need to know about its download size and patch notes.
Horizon Forbidden West is available for both PS4 and PS5. Sony has allowed the PS4 version to be upgradeable to the PS5 version free of cost. This means that to save $10, you can simply purchase the PS4 version and avoid getting the PS5 version. The only difference is that you will lose out on the PS5 box art if you go physical.
The game is available to pre-load now but be warned that if you have purchased the PS4 version, there is no PS5 upgrade available as of yet. You have to wait until the launch day to get the option for an upgrade, and then you will have to download the game essentially again to get the native PS5 version.
The download size of Horizon Forbidden West and in essence its pre-load is roughly 87 GB. It might vary depending on your region e.g Europe has the highest file size due to multiple language support. It is just under 100 GB if you have a EU copy pre-ordered on the PlayStation Store.
The game has also received a day one patch even if it is not out yet. The patch is not that large and will require you to download 2 GB of data. The patch notes can be seen below.
