Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for PC and PS5 Leaked by ESRB

The ESRB has leaked information about a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn for PC and PS5. Originally released for PlayStation 4 in 2017 and later made available on PC, the game is now expected to receive enhancements specifically tailored for PlayStation 5 and PC. However, it remains to be seen what improvements this remastered edition will bring.

According to the ESRB’s rating description, Horizon Zero Dawn is an action/role-playing game in which players control Aloy, a skilled hunter navigating a post-apocalyptic world overrun by robotic creatures. The gameplay involves using arrows, spears, and traps to combat these mechanical foes, as well as boar and human enemies. The ESRB description details the game’s combat scenes, noting the presence of blood puffs when characters are hit, and a particular scene featuring bloodstains in an abandoned camp.

The game’s content also includes a brief reference to sexual material, as well as mentions of fictional drugs and their effects. The dialogue contains some mature language, including the word “sh*t.”

This is an action/role-playing game in which players assume the role of a hunter (Aloy) surviving through a post-apocalyptic world. Players guide Aloy as she learns to hunt robotic creatures and animals in the wild. Aloy uses arrows, spears, and explosive traps to injure and kill machines, boar, and occasional human enemies. Animals and humans emit small puffs of red blood when struck; one sequence depicts an abandoned camp with large blood stains on rocks and trees. The game contains a brief reference to sexual material (e.g., “Eighteen months hard labor in exchange for thirty years lounging around Elysium watching porn?”). In text/audio files, characters sometimes reference fictional drugs, overdoses, and getting high: “…not even out of junior high and already a drug addict”; “…I ran across a pusher who was selling Razorwing for eight bucks a tab”; “I’d spend a few days getting high, then OD on Overcast.” The word “sh*t” appears in the text/dialogue.

While Horizon Zero Dawn is already available on both PC and PS5 through backward compatibility, this remastered version could potentially introduce graphical enhancements, performance upgrades, or new features designed to take advantage of the next-gen hardware capabilities of the PlayStation 5. Given the rating was posted recently, an announcement should be expected soon.

In addition to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, Sony is also releasing Lego Horizon Adventures for PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch later this year. It is a spin-off based on the Horizon IP by Guerrilla Games.
