As mentioned earlier, one of the games prominently featured in the bundle for the month of May, 2023 is Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. It is game set in the gothic science fiction backdrop of the Games Workshop game system Warhammer 40,000. The player controls a group of Grey Knights engaged in combat with Nurgle’s forces as they try to spread a disease known as the Bloom throughout the galaxy. It was released on May 5, 2022, and is a remake of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate from 1998. It was published by Frontier Foundry and developed by Complex Games.
In the prologue, Captain Agravain of the Grey Knight Strike Force, Xiphos, engages in combat with a Khornate warhost under the command of the Bloodthirster, Ere’khul, on the destroyed planet Gaheris. Ere’khul is banished by Agravain, but he and the majority of his team perish in the process. As part of his punishment for acting carelessly during a previous mission, Ectar, a Grey Knight Purifier aboard the strike cruiser Baleful Edict, names one of the campaign’s survivors as the new commander of the strike force.
