Deep Silver and Warhorse Studios’ action role-playing game, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, will feature multiple endings, according to the game’s developer.
During its developer livestream #2, Warhorse Studios Design Lead Prokop Jirsa joined PR Manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling to share new details about the upcoming action role-playing game and answer some of the major questions from fans. Without spoiling anything, the developers revealed that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will feature multiple endings. When writing the story for the first game, the studio’s main idea was to create a journey from a young boy to a man, or, in other words, a coming-of-age plot. In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, however, it’s a journey from a man to a warrior. As per the developers, the important distinction here is that Henry will never become a hero.
According to Warhorse Studios, Henry is just a regular fellow from Skalitz who lost everything and got dragged into a terrible situation during a civil war. Things are chaotic, and he has to witness the horrifying side of war with his own eyes, which being a major change him. In the first game, Henry started as a villager who could barely hold a sword. Now, he’s part of an entourage tasked with delivering a letter to determine if a noble is on their side or the enemy’s.
Henry is being pushed onto a much bigger stage, and the events of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 are far more significant for the region and its future. He’s thrust into new situations, and tries to find his footing, just like the player. According to the developers, this shared sense of discovery between Henry and the player helps build a strong connection.
The Warhorse Studios developers didn’t have much to share on the upcoming title’s combat system. That said, they did share that it has been heavily improved. In the first game, master strikes could be abused because they were too powerful. The development team has addressed this in the sequel, and master strikes are now much harder to execute and riskier to use.
With Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the development team wants to encourage aggressive gameplay. It doesn’t want players to win every encounter by simply blocking and countering. Combat now depends heavily on positioning. For example, if you attack the enemy’s sword side, it’s easier for them to block. If you attack the counter-sword side, they’ll have an easier time performing combos.
