Lack Of Xbox Port For Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Was A Business Decision

The absence of an Xbox port for Capcom’s Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection was due to a business decision.

Last year, Twitter user and Mega Man enthusiast Protodude had reached out to Capcom regarding the lack of an Xbox version of Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. In response, the publisher stated that it could not comment on “business decisions”. The company appears to maintain this stance even today, as it sends out an official survey for feedback with no attempt at gauging interest in an Xbox port.

While the survey does generally list not having a console or PC to play the game on as an option for the reason why a respondent may not have purchased a copy of Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, it doesn’t explicitly acknowledge the lack of an Xbox port. Nevertheless, Xbox users who would like to see the game appear on their platform are strongly encouraged to send in feedback via the official survey.

Mega Man Legacy Collection is a series of video game compilations based on Capcom’s Mega Man franchise. Each compilation includes a number of playable Mega Man video games in addition to new gameplay elements and supplemental materials like concept art. With the exception of the original Legacy Collection, which was created by Digital Eclipse and also released on the Nintendo 3DS, these compilations were created internally at Capcom and released between 2015 and 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One.

The first Mega Man Legacy Collection, which includes the first 10 numbered games in the original Mega Man series, was released in 2015, and a second volume followed in 2017. The Mega Man X Legacy Collection[b], which was released in 2018 and includes both of the eight Mega Man X titles with the same number, came after these. The Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, which includes both Mega Man ZX games and all four Mega Man Zero games, was released in 2020. A total of 10 games, spread across two releases, including all six main Mega Man Battle Network games as well as both versions of later games, were released in 2023 under the name Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection.
