A playable demo for Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio’s souls-like game, Lies of P, is now available on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and if you’re on the fence about which version to pick up, read ahead.
The game offers 2 graphical modes on PS5 and Xbox Series i.e. Quality and Performance. The Quality mode features better reflections and shadows compared to the Performance mode. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version only offers one display mode. This version has some cutbacks in reflections, shadows and terrain detail level. Lastly, the PC version of Lies of P can deliver a deliver a better graphical experience than PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the highest possible quality settings.
In terms of resolution, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions run at a resolution of 4K in both modes that is reconstructed from a native resolution of 1440p in Quality mode and 1080p in Performance mode. The Xbox Series S version runs at a resolution of 1440p that is reconstructed from a native resolution of 972p.
With regards to performance, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions target a frame rate of 30 fps in Quality mode and 60 fps in Performance mode, and do a decent job of maintaining both targets. However, the performance on Xbox Series X is a bit more stable in general compared to PS5, which suffers from a bit more stuttering. On 120 Hz compatible displays, both versions offer the ability to enable High Frame Rate for the Quality mode, increasing the target frame rate to 40fps. The Performance mode remains at 60fps, however. The Xbox Series S version also targets a frame rate of 60 fps, drops to 30 fps at times. Based on the demo, the PC version is well-optimized despite not having dedicated drivers for now. Loading times are almost equal across all platforms, with a minimal advantage on PC, followed by PS5.
All in all, the PC version of Lies of P offers the best possible experience, followed by the Xbox Series X version.
