Retail copies of Square Enix’s upcoming action role-playing game, Final Fantasy XVI, have apparently leaked ahead of its release, and its file size has also been revealed.

Reddit and YouTube users are reporting that they were able to secure early retail copies of the latest entry in the Final Fantasy series via local stores, suggesting that the game’s street date has been broken. As a result of these early retail copies of Final Fantasy XVI getting leaked, we now know the game’s launch file size.

According to the details mentioned at the back of the game’s box, Final Fantasy XVI has a minimum file size requirement of 100 GB, suggesting that the total install size may be larger. Those who have their digital pre-orders in place would want to download the game as soon as the pre-load is available. Earlier, details regarding the review embargo and pre-load date for Final Fantasy XVI were also revealed.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier took to Twitter to share that he will have many thoughts to share on Final Fantasy XVI next week, indicating that the review embargo would have been lifted by then. This would appear to be sometime on June 21, 2023. Fans can look forward to hearing soon what critics have to say about the latest entry in the longest running role-playing game series.

Additionally, as seen above, those who have pre-ordered a digital copy of Final Fantasy XVI can pre-load the game on PS5 starting June 20, 2023. The digital pre-load should come with the latest update pre-installed.
