The next project from Round8 Studio, the developer behind Lies of P, is a sci-fi survival horror title that is being developed using Unreal Engine 5.
According to industry sources (via), Round8 Studio is planning to release downloadable content for Lies of P in the first quarter of next year. As the DLC’s launch draws closer, attention is also shifting toward the studio’s next project; a sci-fi survival horror game that is set to be developed using Unreal Engine 5.
To support the development of its next title, Round8 is currently recruiting talent, including level designers and scenario planners. The job postings describe the project as a sci-fi survival horror title. It will target both PC and console platforms, and will be developed using Unreal Engine 5. A representative from Neowiz Games stated, “It’s too early to disclose the progress or details of the project,” but confirmed, “It is one of the PC and console games currently being developed by Round8 Studio.”
The survival horror genre has a dedicated following in the global gaming market, with franchises like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Dead Space having received both critical and commercial success. With a similar sci-fi setting, the Lies of P developer likely aims to follow the success of the latter with its new IP.
Last year, a job listing for the role of a planner in charge of localization at Neowiz Games had revealed that the studio’s next project will be developed in Unreal Engine 5. The listing had stated that the development team aimed to create top-notch graphics, in-depth level design, and an intense action experience. Contrary to prior speculation about a Lies of P sequel, the listing may have been for the company’s sci-fi survival horror title.
Lies of P was released for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on September 19, 2023.
