Lollipop Chainsaw is getting a remaster, and comparison screenshots reveal that the game’s visuals have been updated.
Dragami Games has shared an update regarding the development of the Lollipop Chainsaw remaster on Twitter, along with an updated look at the game’s protagonist, Juliet. The developer thanked fans for their continued support for the development of Lollipop Chainsaw Remake this year.
A comparison of Juliet’s character model, with the original being on the left and the remaster being on the right, can be seen in the screenshot above. Game designer Yoshimi Yasuda, who has previously worked on God Wars, Root Letter, Demon Gaze, Killer is Dead, KanColle, took to Twitter to state that the development of the Lollipop Chainsaw remaster/remake is going well. However, he added that it will take more time, and urged fans to looking forward to the project’s completion.
The original Lollipop Chainsaw is a 2012 hack-and-slash video game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles. It focuses on Juliet Starling, a cheerleader who hunts zombies in a fictional California high school (voiced by Tara Strong in English, Eri Kitamura in the PlayStation 3 version, and Yoko Hikasa in the Xbox version in Japanese). The game was a collaboration between director James Gunn and game designer Suda51. It was originally published and released in 2012 by Kadokawa in Japan and by Warner Bros. in all other regions.
In the hack and slash game, players take on the role of Juliet as she battles through hordes of zombies. With her chainsaw, she can perform high and low attacks, dodges, and melee attacks. Zombies can be attacked until they become groggy, at which point a chainsaw attack will instantly kill them. By eliminating zombies, destroying objects, and saving classmates, players can earn gold medals.
In July, 2022, it was announced by Kadokawa Games’ successor Dragami Games that a Lollipop Chainsaw remake would be released some time in 2023.
