Lost Odyssey creator Hironobu Sakaguchi is deeply moved to be back on Xbox with the release of his new role-playing game, Fantasian Neo Dimension.
During an interview with Famitsu, Fantasian Neo Dimension creator Hironobu Sakaguchi was asked how he felt about Square Enix being the game’s publisher and also about it being released across multiple platforms. In response, he said that the choice of platform was up to Square Enix. He said that the staff at Mistwalker was happy, but he was surprised to hear that the game will be supported across several platforms.
Sakaguchi mentioned Takuto Nakamura, the director and lead programmer of both Fantasian and Fantasian Neo Dimension, without whom it would not have been possible for the studio to support a wide range of platforms. He mentioned that Nakamura readily accepted the challenge of a multiplatform release for Fantasian Neo Dimension, and said, “we can do it.”
On the subject of releasing Fantasian Neo Dimension on Xbox, Sakaguchi said that he made Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey on Xbox , so he was deeply moved to be back on the platform. He added that he’s also very happy to be able to release it on the Nintendo Switch. After all, he pointed out that Nintendo is the company that made him a creator. Furthermore , he said that it’s been a long time since he’s worked on a game for PlayStation, and that he’s feeling nostalgic as he recalls the time of Final Fantasy VII. Looking back, he believes that the work that his recent projects for iOS and Android would end up being his retirement work. However, in the end, releasing Fantasian Neo Dimension on a large number of platforms became a new highlight of his career. He said that he felt a stronger sense of reaching the finale with Fantasian Neo Dimension. That said, it isn’t his final project, as he’s working on another title.
