During a recent interview, Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s president, was asked about the difference in price of Nintendo Switch 2 games. He termed it as “variable pricing.” As per him, the console maker will look at each game, and the development that goes into the game, the breadth and depth of the gameplay, the durability over time and the repeatability of gameplay experiences, and many other factors in order to determine the right price point for a Switch 2 game. According to Bowser, Nintendo hasn’t set a benchmark for its pricing of Switch 2 games. He justified Mario Kart World’s 80 US Dollar / 80 Euro price tag by highlighting it as the follow-up to the best-selling stand-alone Nintendo game of all time, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, with more than 67 million copies sold.
