MARVEL Cosmic Invasion will receive a new game mode with its upcoming The Siege of Castle Doom DLC, publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games have announced. The paid expansion launches on November 10 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The new Castle Doom mode challenges players to fight through Doctor Doom’s fortress and stop him from activating the Cosmic Inductor, a weapon originally designed to defeat Annihilus but capable of destroying the cosmos. A new gameplay trailer shows the run-based mode, which requires players to survive encounters, complete challenges, and gather resources to strengthen their fighters.
Players can collect Battery Cells and charge the Stabilizer, a device created by Reed Richards to counter Doom’s plan. The mode features 12 perks covering defensive, offensive, and tactical upgrades. Failing challenges can weaken characters with debuffs, while successful runs unlock permanent equipment, new events in Reed’s Lab, and modifiers that increase the difficulty and potential rewards of later attempts.
Players will also be able to choose different routes through the fortress and select upgrades to suit their preferred combat approach. However, they will need to reach Doctor Doom before the Siege Gauge fills completely. As the gauge rises, the castle’s forces become stronger, and filling it before the final confrontation ends the run.
The DLC also adds Susan Storm of the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom as playable characters. Players who defeat Doom can unlock new colour palettes for every playable superhero. The expansion will also feature original music from composer Tee Lopes.
Dotemu and Tribute Games previously confirmed that MARVEL Cosmic Invasion had attracted more than 1.5 million players. The upcoming expansion adds a new challenge to the co-op beat ’em up, with its Castle Doom mode built around repeated runs, unlockable upgrades, and increasingly difficult encounters.
