Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Peaks at 25K Steam Players

by Salal Awan

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls reached a launch peak of 24,498 concurrent players on Steam following its release on August 6. The Arc System Works-developed fighter has made a solid debut on Valve’s platform, although early player reception has been affected by technical problems.

The launch peak places Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls ahead of several established fighting games on Steam. Its debut surpassed titles including DNF Duel (12,331), THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV (8,226), and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising (7,278). However, it remains behind Dragon Ball FighterZ (44,303), Tekken 8 (49,977), Street Fighter 6 (72,977), and Dragon Ball Sparking Zero (122,554).

The game’s Steam user rating currently sits at 44% positive, with many reviews citing significant performance issues. Those technical problems appear to have had an immediate impact on early player sentiment despite the strong launch player count.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is also unavailable in 116 countries due to Sony’s regional restrictions, limiting its availability on Steam.

Developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a 2.5D tag-team fighting game featuring Marvel Comics heroes and villains. Players build four-character teams that share a single health bar, beginning each match with one active fighter and an assist before unlocking the rest of their team by completing objectives such as wall breaks during combat.
