Capcom has announced that Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics has officially surpassed one million units sold globally. The milestone highlights the lasting popularity of the fighting series. It also proves there is still a strong demand among players for high-quality re-releases of classic arcade titles.
First revealed in June 2024, the collection launched digitally that September for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. Physical editions for Switch and PlayStation 4 arrived in November, followed by a digital Xbox One version in February 2025. Within its first year on the market, the package has already proven to be a commercial success for Capcom, signaling strong demand for retro compilations.
The bundle includes seven games originally released between 1993 and 2000, bringing back a selection of fan favorites that helped define the Marvel vs. Capcom legacy. Among the featured titles are Marvel Super Heroes (1995), X-Men vs. Street Fighter (1996), Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (1997), Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (1998), and the acclaimed Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (2000). The collection also introduces the first faithful console port of The Punisher (1993), alongside the return of X-Men: Children of the Atom (1994).
Each title supports modern features such as rollback netcode for online play, ranked and casual matchmaking, training modes, and spectator options. For many of these games, this marks their first official re-release since the seventh console generation, making the collection a rare opportunity for both longtime fans and newcomers to experience them on current platforms.
The success of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics highlights the staying power of Capcom’s crossover series, which remains one of the most celebrated names in fighting game history. While the company has not yet announced future plans for the franchise, the strong sales performance may encourage further revivals or additional entries in the collection series.
