Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Update 1.002.003 Shadow Drops Today

by Ali Haider

Insomniac Games has released a surprise patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 update 1.002.003 on PS5 today April 18. This patch includes fixes related to character suits, gameplay mechanics, general performance, and accessibility features.

Regarding character suits, the patch addresses visual anomalies such as waviness in masks and lenses, particularly in the Amazing 2 Suit. Additionally, issues with blurry webbing on the Classic Suit and glowing lights around Peter’s Hellfire Gala mask have been fixed. Furthermore, an orb of light anomaly on Peter’s Iron Spider Suit has been resolved.

In terms of gameplay, several issues affecting the user experience have been addressed. Concerns about disappearing save data, especially after the previous version 1.002.000, have been resolved. Another significant fix involves correcting prompts that incorrectly suggested starting a new game instead of continuing a current NG+ save file. Moreover, adjustments have been made to the movement of the sun in the “Sunset” Time of Day setting and tutorial prompts for specific missions.

General improvements have been made to address environmental textures and bugs within the game’s open world. Additionally, efforts have been made to enhance overall stability, reducing common crashes and performance hiccups that players may encounter during gameplay.

In terms of accessibility, the patch focuses on ensuring a smoother experience for all players. Issues such as accessibility presets resetting customizations upon death, restart, or reloading checkpoints have been addressed. Furthermore, missing High Contrast shaders during specific missions and problems with the screen reader properly interpreting certain text have been rectified. A new feature, the Skip Puzzle option, has been added to streamline gameplay, specifically targeting the tether puzzle in the Make Your Own Choices section.
