Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater producer Noriaki Okamura is hoping to work on a Metal Gear Solid 4 remake.

In an interview with Real Sound, Metal Gear series producer Noriaki Okamura and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater creative producer Yuji Korekado discussed the philosophy behind Konami’s newly rebuilt development structure, their approach to the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, and the possibility of revisiting Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Both producers talked about their dedication to honoring past entries while adapting them for modern audiences. Korekado explained that the team always tries to respect the intent of the original creators while making necessary improvements, noting that “we approach development with respect for past titles while considering how best to deliver them to modern players.” With Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, that philosophy included camera improvements, more accessible controls, and optional playstyles that allow newcomers and longtime fans to enjoy the game according to their preference.

The conversation took an interesting turn when the interviewer mentioned hopes for a Metal Gear Solid 4 remake. Okamura responded by acknowledging both the difficulty involved in undertaking such a project. He remarked that the PlayStation 3’s unique architecture led to the game having “some pretty specialized code,” adding that “bringing it over now seems like it would be really difficult.” Still, he wasn’t dismissive of the idea.

Both producers also expressed a desire to continue the series now that Metal Gear Solid Delta has reintroduced the franchise to new audiences. Okamura noted that they are currently “in the stage of deciding what to make next,” with options ranging from further remakes to entirely new installments.

Back in August, during an interview with Destin Legarie, Okamura and Korekado acknowledged the strong demand for Metal Gear Solid 4 on modern platforms. Read about it here.
