A Twitter/X user by the name AlexandreNGamR has claimed that a new entry in the Metro series, possibly a sequel to Metro Exodus, is expected to be announced next week, likely during a PlayStation State of Play. According to him, Sony Interactive Entertainment is planning a presentation on April 16, 2026, which will be primarily focused on AAA third-party titles. He further mentioned that later in May or early June, the console maker will host another State of Play presentation as its summer showcase that is expected to feature major upcoming first-party games like Marvel’s Wolverine, Santa Monica Studios’ unannounced God of War spin-off featuring Kratos’ wife Faye, among other surprises.
Known insider Nate the Hate took to the gaming enthusiast Reset Era forums to endorse the individual’s information regarding the upcoming announcement of a new Metro title, calling it “true,” giving his claims some credibility. Windows Central’s Jez Corden also took to Twitter/X to claim that a “Metro 2039” reveal is coming “soon,” likely referring to a sequel to Metro Exodus.
Meanwhile, an alleged canceled build of “Metro 4” from the year 2022 was recently leaked through a Discord channel (via biohazard_fanatic on Reddit). The game allegedly featured Hunter as the main character and took place between January, 2033, and December, 2034. It was said to be fully open world and had a full crafting system with alt ammo types. It also featured an upgradeable NBC suit.
