Microsoft will be adding more JRPGs to the lineup of Japanese games available on Xbox consoles in the near future.
According to Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President, Office Product Group, Sarah Bond, the software giant will bring more JRPGs to its lineup of Japanese games on Xbox in the near future.
During a panel at Tokyo Game Show 2023, Bond was asked what JRPGs she would like to see come to Xbox in the future. She responded by saying that it’s very heard to pick a favorite. She said that it was great for her and the team at Xbox to bring more JRPGs to the platform.
A lot of fans had asked for the Yakuza and Persona series to be on Xbox, and to be able to bring them not only to the platform but also to Xbox Game Pass had been really “fantastic”, she said. Bond stated that these games being on the subscription service made it easier for both the Xbox community within and outside of Japan to experience them.
Bond couldn’t pick a favorite JRPG franchise that she would like to see come to Xbox, though she assured fans that there is more to come. Bringing a franchise like Persona day and date on Xbox with the arrival of Persona 3 Reload has indeed been a big deal for Xbox. The game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, Steam, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
Persona 3 Reload is a complete remake of the original game, and is developed using the Persona 5 game engine. It will feature the same combat and story, but with dramatically revamped elements. While it doesn’t appear to add any new content and cuts the extra episode that is featured in the PS2 version, it is still a significant overhaul over the original.
