Microsoft Is Sending Out Free Xbox Gift Cards To Select Users

Microsoft is sending out free Xbox Gift Cards via message to select console, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming users.

The software giant appears to be spreading some surprise cheer this season, as several Xbox users are reporting (via Reddit) that they’ve received free digital Xbox Gift Cards directly in their accounts. Screenshots shared by users show that Microsoft is quietly distributing 10 US Dollar Microsoft Store gift cards as part of a limited promotional offer available only to select Xbox accounts.

The offer appears under the “Offers & credits” section of the Xbox account menu, where eligible console, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming users can find the reward labeled with a message from Xbox. The aforementioned message reads like a thank-you note, expressing appreciation for players who enjoy the “world of legendary games, unforgettable adventures, and endless entertainment.” As a token of gratitude, Microsoft is giving out an Xbox Gift Card along with the message that players can redeem immediately or save for later.

Each gift card includes a clear expiration date. The offer expires on December 31, 2025, giving users plenty of time to decide how to use the bonus credit. Once claimed, the 10 US Dollar credit can be spent on anything in the Microsoft or Xbox digital storefronts. That includes games, DLC, in-game currency, apps, and even subscriptions. It’s essentially free spending money to put toward upcoming releases or discounted titles during sales.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has rewarded players with surprise digital gifts, but these offers are never announced or promoted from beforehand. Instead, they’re quietly rolled out to select accounts, often based on regional availability, activity, or past purchasing behavior. Not everyone will receive the reward, but it’s worth checking the Account  -> Offers & Rewards section to see if a gift card is waiting for you.

Those who have received this bonus store credit will have the opportunity to spend it on the upcoming holiday discounts.
