Microsoft reportedly had a stacked internal release schedule for Xbox in the year 2023, based on the latest rumor.
During the latest episode of Xbox Expansion Pass, Jeff Grubb stated said that Microsoft had a bunch of games stacked for release in 2023 for Xbox, though this was their internal schedule and subject to change. He suggested that while all of these games may get released in 2023, they’re equally likely to get pushed to the next year.
The titles Jeff mentioned as part of the list of games internally scheduled for a 2023 release are as follows:
- Avowed
- Fable
- Perfect Dark
- Everwild
- Hellblade: Senua’s Saga
- Contraband
- InXile’s next game
- Compulsion’s next game
- Coalition’s next non-Gears project
He did mention, however, that you can tell immediately by seeing the list that some of the games mentioned don’t pass the smell test for 2023. He pointed out that it’s unlikely for Everwild to see the light of day next year. He does think that Hellblade: Senua’s Saga has a strong chance of being released in 2023, but, at the same time, it could easily get pushed to 2024.
Regarding Coalition’s upcoming non-Gears project, Jeff mentioned that the studio is so busy working on collaborating with other studios on their projects that perhaps their own game may not be ready in 2023. He said that, since it’s been so long since Compulsion’s last game, it’s likely that work on their next game may be complete in 2023. There isn’t much known about Contraband at this point, therefore, it’s impossible to say anything about that project.
In response to a question regarding the games he feels are most likely to get released in 2023 besides Starfield and Red Fall, he named Hellblade: Senua’s Saga, and Compulsion’s next game, and InXile’s next game.
It will be interesting to see which of these titles are out in 2023. Microsoft is looking to release a first-party game each quarter, starting with Starfield in Q1 of 2023, followed by Red Fall in Q2.
